When you use your Vancelian card to pay in a currency other than EUR, whether in-store or online, certain rules and fees apply.
How does a foreign-currency payment work?
When the payment is authorised, a slightly higher amount may appear.
This mechanism helps secure the exchange rate while the transaction is being fully processed.
The final amount is then adjusted at the time of settlement (up to 7 days after the authorisation). If the exchange rate has not changed, the difference will not be charged.
What fees are applied?
For every payment made in a currency other than euro:
- Approximately 3% is automatically added by ModulR at the moment of authorisation, to cover potential exchange rate fluctuations
- Vancelian fees of 2.5% apply to each foreign-currency transaction
- Elite members: 0% Vancelian fees
(the conversion margin applied by ModulR still applies)
